Nearer, Nearer, The End Draws

"What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from."  -T.S. Eliot

snoopyThe semester is winding down and I cannot believe how quickly this year has gone by. I liked this quote by Eliot because we are at the end of our educational careers, and when it is completed, that is where we will start from. I'm anxious and excited to see where my path lies, and what's ahead. I definitely wouldn't be where I am today without the love and support from those around me.

Like the friendship between Snoopy and Charlie Brown, I have been fortunate to create new friendships, and I am excited for their future's as educators, too.

As this semester has progressed I have learned more about myself and my philosophies and beliefs about what education is about. I have become a more confident individual, attending the career fair and bravely introducing myself to possible job prospects is an attestation to that alone.

Another lesson learned through my teaching and life experiences this semester that speaks for itself:
Today.....for sure!

It's true - life is not fair, and we face many challenges as educators - human beings, learning that things are going to occur in life that just aren't fair. Maybe a few students have learned that lesson, too.

Most of all as an educator I have faith and believe in this saying - it speaks so loudly and clearly:
The Three Ps

I can do what I can do, but I must stay positive, patient, and persistent!

Need some encouragement? I do! Here's a song that helps lift me up.

I'm looking forward to what is to come in completing this semester, and am ready to start anew in the spring!

Best to all,
Ms. Aden

  1. I LOVE the T.S. Eliot quote! To me, it really emphasizes how nothing is ever really done in life. If life is still going, everything is still going. Even if our education degrees will soon be done, we will still be learning. In fact, our formal education will likely continue in other ways. After all, we teachers always have to keep learning and growing. I'm ready for the next phase, even if it's a little scary. It's time!

  2. Amber,
Yep, I'm with Lara, love the quote. It's crazy to see how cyclical everything is. Nothing is ever alone, it is always connected to the beginning of something else.

I also really love the life lesson greeting card. The format of those has given me many a giggle!

I, like you, am looking forward to the future. I know all these years of studying, testing, papering and progressing will pay off. Not monetarily of course, because we all know teaching isn't a career of billionaires. Despite the grim paycheck we are truly paid back with the light bulbs that figuratively go off during one of our lessons.

I definitely agree with the gained confidence from the career fair. I found as I approached, waited and finally shook their hand I mustered my wit, proudly gave my name, handed my resume packet and commented, "It's nice to meet you." I'm wondering if they were watching me as I walked away and went to another school district. I sure hope they liked what I had to say.

I know your passion for teaching will carry you through hurdles and help you to endure the first year. You'll be great!!!
